The listed dimensions are the size of the tool, i.e. the wet clay. Clay shrinks during drying and firing, usually around 5–15%, and the final size of your piece always depends on your own clay and firing temperature. For example, with a 10 cm size and 12% shrinkage, the finished piece would be about 8.8 cm. Please check your clay's shrinkage before ordering and choose the size accordingly.

Pressing the plate evenly into soft clay creates a deep, crisp, and beautifully detailed relief that looks stunning under celadon or running glazes.
This product is crafted from high-quality Finnish plywood right in our own atelier in Finland, making it a 100% authentically Finnish item.
- Material: Premium Finnish birch plywood.
- Size: Diameter 187 mm, thickness 3 mm.
- Finish: Untreated. You can use it as it is, or apply a coat of varnish (e.g., marine varnish) if you wish to make it more moisture-resistant and easier to clean.
- Care Instructions: Wipe clean with a damp cloth or soft brush after use. Do not submerge in water or put in the dishwasher.
Tip: Untreated wood naturally absorbs a bit of moisture from the clay, which can help with a clean release. If you choose to varnish the plate, you can use a dusting of cornstarch or potato starch as a resist agent if the clay tends to stick.
